The Great Pyrenees is a majestic, large livestock guardian dog originally bred by Basque shepherds in the Pyrenean Mountains between France and Spain. They have a thick, weather-resistant white double coat that allowed them to work outdoors in harsh mountain conditions. Great Pyrenees are patient, calm, and fiercely protective of those in their care.
